The project is at the foot of a volcano on the north coast of the island of Fuerteventura, Spain  The plot offers spectacular 360 degree views which want to be maximized by the customer . The land has a slope in the middle of the plot of about 2.4m in height dividing it into 2 separate platforms. At the lower part a rectangular piece of concrete (basement), which acts as a support for the upper part (ground floor) that is covered by a large format ceramic veneer graphite colour. These shades of gray in addition to corten steel make that the house almost becomes invisible as it fades into the background.Save this picture!© Carl LangA rectangular form is used in order to block N trade winds that blow constantly throughout the whole year and therefore be able to use the south facing wooden deck. The pergola is hung from iron beams that are anchored to the roof therefore no pillars are needed giving a film like effect of the south view.Save this picture!Floor PlanThe ground floor is sectioned by a stone wall that crosses from side to side and divides the space in two, on side containing the lounge, kitchen, dining room and the other side has 2 rooms with 2 bathrooms. A timber module separates the kitchen from the entrance which houses inside part of the kitchen, cabinets and a toilet. From the dining area a spiral staircase in Corten steel  connects the ground floor to the basement where there are 2 bedrooms with 2 bathrooms and a technical room.Because of the virgin landscape surrounding the house, there have been planted a minimum of native plants in order to obtain a spectacular integration with nature.Save this picture!© Carl LangProject gallerySee allShow lessCompetition for LEED: GBI’s Green Globes Shakes Up Building CertificationArticlesHappy Cities and Stranger Danger: An Interview with DIALOG’s Bruce HadenArticles Share Photographs Vivienda en Isla Fuerteventura / Ilya Escario 2013 Spain Projects 2013 ArchDaily ShareFacebookTwitterPinterestWhatsappMailOrhttps://www.archdaily.com/508702/vivienda-en-isla-fuerteventura-ilya-escario Clipboard CopyAbout this officeIlya EscarioOfficeFollowProductsWoodStoneConcrete#TagsProjectsBuilt ProjectsSelected ProjectsResidential ArchitectureHousesHousesSpainPublished on May 25, 2014Cite: “Vivienda en Isla Fuerteventura / Ilya Escario” 25 May 2014. DeSantis Introduces Plan for Required High School Civics Exam

first_imgDeSantis explained in a press conference that he was inspired by President George Washington’s first address to Congress in 1790, adding, “Knowledge is the foundation of public happiness in a Republican system of government. We have to do better. No matter what you do, you are going to be required to exercise the duties of citizenship.”The new test will be implemented by the next school year, but DeSantis wants to use this school year for a trial run, if the state Legislature agrees.Last January, the Governor issued an executive order calling for a complete overhaul of the state’s education standards, which included eliminating Common Core, a set of education standards that were introduced in 2010. Florida high school students will soon be tested on their understanding of citizenship and the United States’ founding documents, including the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution, under a new initiative introduced by Governor Ron DeSantis. On Wednesday, DeSantis announced his plan to require a civics exam similar to those that are taken by naturalized U.S. citizens. He tweeted:Today, I directed @EducationFL to develop a program that increases civics education throughout our classrooms, including a civics examination for all 12th grade students in Florida. https://t.co/xiRU3Q7MgU— Ron DeSantis (@GovRonDeSantis) December 10, 2019last_img read more

Cricket News Smriti Mandhana blasts century as India women thrash New Zealand

first_imgThis match is part of the ICC Women’s Championship.India beat New Zealand in the 2017 World Cup and 2018 World T20.Smriti Mandhana won two ICC awards recently. In response, Mandhana and Jemimah Rodrigues started off on a positive note with couple of boundaries. Both players did not allow the New Zealand bowlers to settle and they scored at a rate of close to six. Mandhana went into top gear in the 12th over as she blasted two fours and a six off Holly Huddleston. The left-hander reached a fifty off 43 balls and she continued to target the White Ferns bowlers, launching Devine for another six.Rodrigues notched up her fifty off 61 balls and she matched Mandhana stroke for stroke as both batters tore into the New Zealand bowling. Mandhana came closer to her century by lofting Amelia Kerr for her third six and she reached her century off just 101 balls. The partnership went past 150 and India could have registered a 10-wicket win but Mandhana was caught by Leah Tahuhu off Kerr to fall for a brilliant 105 with just three runs needed for victory. This victory, which is part of the ICC Women’s Championship qualifying, will boost India’s chances for playing in the World Cup while for New Zealand, they will have to ensure they do not slip up big time in the upcoming fixtures. New Delhi: In the last two years, New Zealand women’s team has been hurt by India. In 2017, their passage to the knockouts of the Women’s World Cup was halted by Mithali Raj. In the 2018 World T20, Harmanpreet Kaur’s blazing ton played a big part in their elimination in the tournament. Now, in 2019, New Zealand continue to face plenty of pain by India, this time in Napier. A splendid century by Smriti Mandhana, combined with superb bowling spells from Ekta Bisht (3/32) and Poonam Yadav (3/42) helped India thrash New Zealand by nine wickets and with 17 overs to spare in the first ODI in Napier on Thursday. The India women’s team victory comes a day after Virat Kohli’s side had defeated the Blackcaps at the same venue by eight wickets on Wednesday.India women’s team chose to bowl at McLean Park and it looked to have backfired as Suzie Bates and Sophie Devine stitched a 61-run stand for the opening wicket. However, Devine was run-out thanks to some wonderful work by Deepti Sharma and that stalled New Zealand’s women. With Bates (36) falling to Sharma, Amy Sattherthwaite the skipper and Amelia Kerr looked to rebuild for the hosts. However, Poonam Yadav got both set batters out in the space of four overs. Bisht ran through the lower middle order and it took some boundaries from Hannah Rowe (25) to get New Zealand close to 200 but they were bowled out for 192 in the 49th over. highlights For all the Latest Sports News News, Cricket News News, Download News Nation Android and iOS Mobile Apps.last_img read more
