By Brooklyne Beatty – January 13, 2021 0 1002 WhatsApp Twitter Google+ Pinterest (Photo Supplied/St. Joseph County Police Department) Two people were arrested Tuesday following a string of porch thefts in Michiana.Shortly after 3 p.m. Tuesday, a St. Joseph County police officer spotted a maroon Jeep Cherokee traveling along Ireland Road that matched a suspect vehicle involved in recent thefts.The officer conducted a traffic stop, and found the driver and passenger to be in possession of a controlled substance and property suspected stolen out of St. Joseph County, Elkhart County and Cass County, Michigan.Isaray Rodriguez, 21 of South Bend, was arrested and booked on preliminary charges of a Possession of a Schedule I-IV Controlled Substance, Possession of Paraphernalia, Possession of Marijuana and False Informing.Stephanie Stouder, 28 of Bristol, was arrested and booked on a preliminary charge of Theft, and is being held on a warrant out of Elkhart County.Police are still working to connect Stouder to additional suspected thefts in St. Joseph County, Osceola, South Bend, Goshen, Walkerton, Elkhart City, Elkhart County and Edwardsburg. Prepared by RYS Sri LankaThis RYS Project was jointly organized by the Universal Peace Federation, Youth and Students for Peace (YSP) and the Government of Sri Lanka, August 10-17, 2018. A total of 57 participants and staff from 10 countries joined the event. The project is to construct an extension of a Buddhist Community Center and build a concrete pathway surrounding the Center which will greatly help the people in the community using the said facility.The Opening Ceremony was graced by Hon. Ranjith Madduma Bandara, Minister of Public Affairs & Management and he is concurrently the Minister of Law & Order. With him as Chief Guest is the Deputy Speaker of the House of Parliament, Hon. Ananda Kumarasiri who both delivered their peace messages.The prayers were offered by Religious Leaders from Buddhist, Hindu, Christian and Islam religions respectively. It was followed by a welcome speech of Lt. S. Sarrajh , President of YSP-Sri Lanka. The project was introduced by Dr. Edgar T. Tanate, UPF Director of Education for South Asia and followed by Dr.Chula Senaratne – Secretary General, UPF Sri Lanka.The government and the people of Sri Lanka are showing their support to UPF, YSP, and the worldwide campaign to raise up the youth through service projects that will eventually lead to a world of lasting peace. This is the dream of the founder of UPF, Rev. Sun Myung Moon and Dr. Hak Ja Han, the True Parents of all humankind. This is the same dream shared by the good people of Sri Lanka and by all of humankind.
